Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood
I read this book as part of a reading challenge, I don't typically read graphic novels. This book was haunting and jarring. It is told from the viewpoint of the author as a child. A child trying to understand the changes in Iran during the revolution and war with Iraq. The story and pictures captured Marji's struggles with understanding what was going on. The frustration of when she believed she had perfect understanding and events proved that understanding to be imperfect.
